The study aimed to evaluate the impact of the implementation of matrix support on maintaining the link with primary care among users of specialized mental health services in a municipality in São Paulo. A retrospective longitudinal study was conducted with users from the Psychosocial Care Network, with two measurement points: T0 (n=341) from August to September 2019 and T1 (n=288) from January to February 2022. Associations between the outcome and covariates were analyzed using the chi-square test, with a p-value < 0.05 considered significant. The results showed an increase in the prevalence of users who maintained the link with primary care, from 56.9% at T0 to 67.1% at T1, suggesting that matrix support strengthens continuity of care. Users referred by primary care or outpatient clinics had higher rates of maintaining the link compared to those referred by private or hospital services. The prevalence was also higher among individuals who received mental health care in primary care or visits from Community Health Agents, highlighting the importance of these professionals in care integration.
