Abstract

The text is a record of the round table that took place at the National Congress of Collective Health in Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz/RJ) in 2018, bringing the experiences and reflections of three black women, who are important leaders of social movements against racism and state violence. The theme addressed health care involving relatives of victims of police violence and the challenges to achieve
comprehensiveness and equity in the access to public health services in face of the daily racism experienced by black people and slums populations, who are the targets of such violence. By bringing these narratives
about episodes of racism within the health system, we seek to raise awareness regarding the importance of including this issue in the education of health professionals.
