Abstract

The second edition of the ‘Manual de direito à saúde: normatização e judicialização’, published by the State Health Committee of Minas Gerais, offers a comprehensive and up-to-date technical reference for judges, health managers, practitioners and researchers working at the intersection of health and law. The work incorporates recent rulings by the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) and National Council of Justice, as well as guidelines from the National Council of Justice, systematically addressing health litigation within both the Unified Health System and the private supplementary health sector. Notable contributions include the analysis of the jurisprudential shift toward collective interests, the discussion of therapies for Autism Spectrum Disorder, the examination of access to oncological treatments, and the presentation of the Technical Support Centers of the Judiciary (NAT-Jus). Produced through multiprofessional collaboration, the manual aligns with the principles of collective health by advocating access to care within public policies as the preferred path, thus contributing to the sustainability and equity of Brazil’s health system.
