The goal of this study is to determine the general prevalence of women at risk of developing breast cancer by family history in Uberaba - MG, as well as this prevalence in different socioeconomic and epidemiological conditions. This is a quantitative, analytical, observational and cross-sectional population-based research. This study is part of a larger project - Women's Health Survey in Uberaba. The sample consisted of 1520 women aged 20 years and over. The data collected by home interviews related to socioeconomic and epidemiological information. The evaluation of the hereditary risk of breast cancer checked through the instrument Family History Screen 7 (FHS-7). The descriptive analysis used absolute and percentage frequencies and the inferential one, the Chi-Square test with p <0.05. As results, 28% of the studied sample had a hereditary risk for breast cancer. The age group that showed the highest risk frequency was 70 years old or more; as well as white women; and per capita income> 2.5 minimum wages. In conclusion, the family history risk by the FHS-7 demonstrated a higher prevalence of white women, higher per capita income and advanced age in the sample studied, these results can be used to guide preventive actions.
