Characteristics of health professionals affected by Covid-19: an integrative literature review

Abstract

Identify the characteristics of health professionals affected by COVID-19. It is an integrative literature review guided by six steps and which searched five data sources. After establishing the selection flow, the material collected (N = 620) determined the sample of articles analyzed (n = 17), from which information was synthesized regarding the characteristics of workers and related to the involvement by COVID-19. Among the selected studies, data were collected from 912 health workers, predominantly doctors (45.4%) and nurses (34.4%). Eleven (64.8%) studies declared that health professionals were contaminated in the work environment, mainly in hospitals. RT-PCR testing was the main diagnostic method. Some studies have reported previous comorbidities among workers. The main symptoms of COVID-19 were: fever, cough, fatigue and myalgia. It was found characteristics that go back in a concentrated profile of contaminated doctors and nurses in the hospital. This reality was focused on between Chinese and American research.
